The following is a brief summary of some of the noteworthy new California laws enacted in 2020 which impact the day-to-day operations and policies of California employers. Unless otherwise indicated, all new legislation is effective January 1, 2021. There were also a number of cases decided in 2020 which provide guidance and set new standards governing the employment relationship.
